✨ The Story

It was one of those chilly nights where everyone was home — blankets on the couch, a movie playing in the background, and the sweet smell of something baking felt necessary. I didn’t have much on hand, just the usual pantry staples and a few half-used bags of chocolate chips and toffee bits from other projects. So I melted some butter, stirred in a little of this and that, and before I knew it… warm, chewy, golden cookies appeared.
The best part? You can swap the toffee for whatever you find hiding in the cabinet — crushed pretzels for a salty twist, chopped candy bars from Halloween leftovers, or even peanut butter cups if you’re feeling indulgent. These are “make-do magic” cookies — the kind that turn a quiet night in into something a little special.

🥣 The Mess
1. Preheat oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth and glossy.
3. Add in the egg and vanilla, whisk again until combined.
4. Sprinkle in the salt and baking soda, then fold in the flour until a soft dough forms.
5. Stir in your chocolate chips and toffee bits (or your chosen mix-ins).
6. Scoop dough onto the baking sheet, spacing evenly.
7. Bake for 9–11 minutes, until edges are golden but centers are soft.
8. Sprinkle with flaky sea salt while warm for that perfect sweet-salty bite.

✨ The Sparkle
They come out of the oven slightly crisp around the edges, gooey in the center, and filled with melty bits of chocolate and caramelized toffee crunch. They taste like cozy evenings, laughter in the background, and making something special out of “just what you had.”
Serve them warm with a cold glass of milk or crumble one over ice cream — and don’t forget to snap a picture before the family gets to them. They disappear fast.
